Through EUPRERA (The European Public Relations Education and Research Association), the Department of Communication (IKO) organised a large and highly regarded research conference on strategic communication at AF-borgen in Lund between 24 and 27 September.

The conference is held every year – previous years in Bucharest, Prague, Vienna and Pamplona, among other places. Most of the researchers came from European countries, but there were also participants from North America, Asia, Australia and Africa.

The conference was opened by Pro Vice-Chancellor Jimmie Kristensson, Dean Agnes Andersson and Jesper Falkheimer from IKO, who is also the chair of EUPRERA. This year's theme was the interface between research and practice.

The role of strategic communication in society and for organizations has probably never been more important. It was wonderful to see scholars from all over the world meet, present and discuss core issues and challenges. The need to meet face to face is strong and crucial for developing new ideas and knowledge, says Jesper Falkheimer.
