Textile Transformation: Innovating for a Greener Planet - a panel discussion on circular economy and sustainable consumption

Join Sustainability Week at Campus Helsingborg, for a dynamic panel on the circular economy’s impact on textiles! Connecting with talented students eager to promote sustainability and learn from industry experts. This event will strengthens commitments to sustainable business practices, with a special focus on Sweden’s new textile waste regulation, fosters networking, and bridges the gap between industry and academia.
The event consists of two parts: the first hour is a shared panel discussion by the experts in the field of sustainable textiles, and the second hour is for audience interaction and Q&A session. Everyone is free to move around and socialize during the second half of the Q&A session.
Panelists
1. Speaker from NGO: Erikshjälpen, a Swedish non-profit organization (NGO) that focuses on child welfare, education, and social development projects around the world, with the goal of providing better living conditions for disadvantaged groups. Erikshjälpen Second Hand is a well known social enterprise in Sweden, committed to sustainable consumption and charitable causes. As one of Sweden’s largest second-hand store chains, Erikshjälpen promotes the circular economy by recycling, reusing, and reselling high-quality second-hand home goods, clothing, and books, thereby reducing waste.
2. Speaker from Lund University: Marie Ledendal is a Senior Lecturer at Lund University, affiliated with the Department of Communication at Lund University. Her academic work spans across multiple disciplines, with a particular focus on visual communication, design, textile, fashion, and sustainability. In addition to her teaching and research responsibilities, Marie is actively involved in artistic and outreach work. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges the gap between communication studies and creative practices, contributing to both academic discourse and public engagement.
Panel host
Camilla Nothhaft, a distinguished researcher and lecturer at Lund University, specializing in strategic communication and communication studies. She is affiliated with the Department of Communication at Lund University. where she conducts research and teaches at the Helsingborg campus. Additionally, she serves as a project assistant at the Vattenhallen Science Center, LTH, contributing to science communication and education. Her research interests include strategic communication, public relations, and organizational communication.

The event is part of Sustainability Week 2025, which runs between 5-10 May. Sustainability Week is an annual event in Lund organised as a joint venture by Lund University and Lund municipality. The week serves as a platform for bringing together ideas, raising public awareness and for inspiring sustainable change.
