Title: Nordic Larp Concepts for the Design of Experiences and Participation
Discussant: Michael Rübsamen
Abstract
Nordic larp is an international artistic movement creating collaborative, non-competitive larps (live role-playing games) for adult players, often on serious topics. In the last decades, theory, conceptual tools and design rooted in Nordic larp discourse have shaped academic game studies and been employed in the design of e.g. museums and theme parks. Much larp design is in fact generalisable experience design. Presenting central Nordic Larp approaches to the design of co-creative experiences and the use of participation as material, this paper sketches their relevance to both related practices and design research.
